If you have a toddler that you carry a lot this can take a toll on your back. The pain may come and go but the painful periods will likely get longer and longer. Fortunately, there are things you can do to help with your back pain. One of these things is going to a chiropractor. Below are three ways they can help you.

Set up a Treatment Plan

The first thing the chiropractor will do is to talk with you about the type of pain you are feeling. They will want to know when the pain started and what you were doing. They will also want to know how long you have been experiencing this pain and what you have been doing at home to help with it.

The chiropractor will do a physical examination. For example, they will take your vital signs, check your lung function, temperature, respiration rate, and much more. This is to help the chiropractor know if you are in good health. If you are not, they will likely refer you to a doctor for treatment. Once you have had any health issues dealt with you can go back to the chiropractor for treatment.

Perform Manual Adjustments

Part of the treatment plan will be doing manual adjustments. This is using pressure on different areas of your back. This pressure is done to manage your pain and to realign the spine. The chiropractor may use forceful pressure or they may use a lower pressure. This depends on the type of back problem you have.  The doctor will use their hands to apply pressure or use a special device. They may also use a combination of both. You may be standing or lying down during this manipulation.

Manual adjustment is designed to reduce inflammation, relieve pressure on the joints, and to improve nerve function in your back.

Teach You How to Eat Healthy and Exercise

Another part of the treatment plan is eating a healthy diet and doing exercises that will help strengthen your back muscles. To help with this, the chiropractor may suggest physical therapy. If you need help with your eating plan the chiropractor can suggest a nutritional counselor to help you.  They may put you on a type of inflammatory diet, as well as ask you to take calcium supplements. Diet and exercise will help you lose weight if you are overweight. Having extra weight puts a lot of pressure on your back.
